A writer of dreams, a storyteller for all seasons

THE MONTH OF MAY And Other Happenings

There are lots of things happening in my writing world. I am finishing up book two of a new series I’ve started for Mira Books. The series is called the Jigsaw series, and the first book, THE MISSING PIECE, will be out at the end of July. The second book, which I’m nearly through with, is called SECOND SIGHT.

I also signed another contract with Sourcebooks that will include books 12 and 13 for the Blessings, Georgia series, so for all of you who are enjoying that world, there’s more to come. The next book due out in that series is at the end of June. It’s called A Rainbow Above Us, and with all the thunderstorms and tornadoes we’ve been having here in Oklahoma, we could use a few rainbows. There will be one more book in that series that will come out at the end of December, called THE WAY BACK TO YOU.

One of the things I do when I want to reset my world is to bake. It’s a little like writing, because I’m still using my hands and thoughts to create. I love sharing my stories with people who like to read, and I do the same with my baking, sharing it with friends and family. It satisfies and relaxes me to do this, so my house often smells really, really good.

We’re coming up on Memorial Day, and in my family, we always decorated the graves of our loved ones who have passed, so I’ve been accumulating flowers for a few days now to take to the cemeteries. It is a peaceful feeling for me to do this… a reminder of my life as a child, following my parents and grandparents around the cemeteries as they cleaned off their loved ones final resting places, while laughing and talking about all the good times they’d shared in life. It is a good way to be, being grateful for someone’s presence in your life, rather than grieving forever that they are gone.

I’m wishing all of you a happy month of May. Read a lot of good books. Eat a cookie for me, and be at peace with where you are in this world. Life is always evolving, so be ready for the next new chapter, and enjoy every moment you breathe.

        Life is beautiful.

Sending you love from Oklahoma.

Sharon

I got hooked on your writing and haven’t stopped since 1980. Love the way you make your people come alive. Thank you

Thank you so much… They’re very alive to me, too.

I love your books, and find your characters fascinating. I just finished The Missing Piece in one day as I could not put it down. I am eager to read the next two in this series. This may be my favorite of yours as I am in awe of the details threaded to create such questions as one reads to learn more about Wyrick. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.
        Gratefully yours,
        Diana

thank you, Diane…. I have been offline for about a week, moving. I’m worn out and trying to catch up on email.

Love the Blessing series. Was wondering when the next book in the Prophecy Series will be coming – can’t wait!

Thanks Alecia… I love writing the Blessings books. I don’t exactly know when that last book will be out. I think about it all the time, but trying to find a timeline to write a self-pub book when I’m contracted for so many others to publishers right now is hard. I hope sometime this year.

Good morning. Because of reading so many of your books, I feel as if we could be friends. We share so many of the same values. Although I wonder about myself. As children love to hear the same comforting story over and over, I am drawn to reread so many of your books…especially for certain passages. The gambler’s daughters call to me as they finally learn to give their trust, Diamond to Dooley, Queen to Cody Bonner, and Lucky to Fluffy. I love the fairy tale ending of I’ll Stand By You, and the courage of Mercy Dane, the goodness and outpouring of love from Ruby Dee, et al.

Writing a cookbook with stories of growing up poor in southern Indiana made for an exciting year. I self published at 43 and was amazed at the number of people in their 80’s who told me that I had written about their lives. I about choked when we were picking up the second lot of books and our printer calmly explained that a lot of churches only ordered 500 copies . I had ordered 1,000, yikes. They are long gone, and there are requests for more every year at our family reunion. The name of my cookbook is The Lilac Bush Playhouse, Food for Body and Soul. We kids played under the branches of a huge lilac bush. I digress, but maybe you want to know more about your fans.

I look forward to The Missing Piece and the new Blessing’s books. You keep writing, and I’ll keep falling in love with the people and worlds you create.

Thank you for such a wonderful greeting this morning. I love, love, love to know you like the stories I tell. Yes, happy ever after endings are a must for me, despite whatever troubles my characters endure throughout the story. Congratulations on your own publishing endeavor. Cookbooks are amazing. I have three generations of recipes in my collection, as well.

      Happy summer,
      Sharon

I love the Blessings, GA series. Have already read A Rainbow Above Us and am anxiously awaiting the next book. Only one more book in the series? I’d hate to see the series end. Have also read The Missing Piece. A bit different than your other books, but I couldn’t put it down. You’re the best and I hope you have a good day.

    • Sharon Sala on August 7, 2019 at 2:09 pm

No, there are more books in the series… I’m contracted up through Book #13. The next book to be released is THE WAY TO YOU, which comes out at the end of December of this year. I’m writing the next one now. It’s called ONCE IN A BLUE MOON.
And yes, The Missing Piece is different for a reason. It’s Mystery…not romantic suspense. But my publisher persists in marketing it one way, even though they know it’s different from what I’ve been writing. And it’s different on purpose. LOLOL I’m enjoying telling Charlie and Wyrick’s stories. The second one, SECOND SIGHT, comes out at the end of January 2020, I believe, and I have two more contracted for that series. I’m tired of writing romantic suspense, so I took a break to tell other stories that are in my heart to tell.

      thanks for reading me,
      Sharon

Oh golly, you might be tired of writing romantic suspense, but I’m sure not tired of reading them, but I am anxious to read about what Charlie and Wyrick are up to now. Hope you have a blessed day.

          Karen,
I love writing about these two. The next book, SECOND SIGHT, comes out at the end of January 2020. I can’t wait for everyone to see what’s happening next..
